Original Oil Painting of Morocco, travel memory, the blue city, Shades of Chefchaouen

$480.00 CAD

Original oil Painting, this is an Oil on Arches Oil Paper fixed to a cradled wood panel. It is a scene from a trip to Morroco. Chefchauouen is a gorgeous town where the buildings are all (or mostly all) blue.
It is believed that there is a Spiritual reason for this. To the Jewish refugees of the 15th century, the blue symbolized the sky and heaven and was a reminder of God and spiritual awareness.
The blue also keeps the buildings cool in the hot Morrocan climate. Some locals also believe that the blue colour repells mosquitoes and insects since it looks like water.
