A one of a kind original oil painting of a sculpture from South Africa. Madala in Zulu is a somewhat affectionate and respectful term used to address an older black man. This is a sculpture we’ve had around the house for many years, something my husband brought back from South Africa after spending many years working there. I painted this as a nocturne so as to create atmosphere and a sense of mystery.
